1st Grade Math Worksheets

Build early number skills with small, explainable steps. Start with counting patterns, whole-number positions, and addition or subtraction facts that the learner can describe.

Choose a short worksheet at a comfortable level. A number chart or number line can support the thinking before the learner records an answer, and a separate key keeps checking until after the attempt.

A useful first-grade starting point

  • Read and fill a 1–120 number chart, using nearby cells as clues.
  • Identify points on the whole-number line from 0 to 10.
  • Practice addition and subtraction within 10 before extending strategies within 20.

Ask how an answer was found: counting on, making ten, or using a related fact. Move to a more challenging level only when the explanation is secure. Decimals, signed integers, and larger-number options on shared worksheet pages are later extensions, not the intended starting levels here.
